SRUPUT Kopi*Kahve*Coffee
Keterangan
a Petite Coffee Shop in @yogyakarta_city,*Brand Name: Sruput --
The name we choose, Sruput, represents the art of coffee drinking itself, in which coffee lovers will at times sipping the hot liquid instead of just regularly drink it.
The word’s origin is from Javanese word ‘Sruput’ which has an English free translation as drinking hot liquid by slurping it.
As unique as it sounds to the non-Javanese-speaking people, we establish this business in Yogyakarta, --a well known center of Javanese Culture--, so we assume nothing can be better than using this word ‘Sruput’ as our brand name.
*Slogan: Kopi, Kahve, Coffee
As it is obvious that the business we open is a coffee shop, which serves mostly coffee-based menus, we would like to emphasize that by stating the word ‘coffee’ in several different languages as our slogan.
And after several considerations, we choose--as a start--, 3 languages that translate the word ‘coffee’ and those are: Kopi (Indonesian), Kahve (Turkish), and Coffee (US English).
We use Indonesian word ‘Kopi’ as the 1st word of our slogan to represent where our business stands/opens right now, which is in Indonesia.
Then we use the Turkish word ‘Kahve’ to give homage to the 1st coffee house /coffee shop established in Istanbul-Turkey in 16th century (around 1530s-1550s), where people went and lingered there to do their social interactions, to chat and to exchange informations and ideas while enjoying their coffee. That’s as much as like what we want our coffee shop to be.
The last word we use is US English ‘Coffee’ which is known by most people in the world, hence giving us wider exposure to foreign potential customers.
*The Lettering and Logo Design
As much as we strive to be consistent and serious as our standard goes in operating this coffee shop business, we also want to be flexible and open minded in the manner of public relating and listening to our customers’ ideas.
That’s why we use both free hand style and rigid font for our company logo.
A free hand style lettering is used for the word ‘Sruput’ to represent our open mind and flexibility, and more rigid lettering is used for the word ‘Kopi*Kahve*Coffee’ to show our seriousness in striving to meet our standard and being consistent in serving our best.
As for the smoldering coffee cup icon on top, it is just an aesthetic addition to what we already have in mind.
